Real estate was not part of my master plan in business, but rather evolved as a result of my consulting business – Compass Services Group, which evolved as a result of a move to Atlanta and my pregnancy. (Who is going to hire a pregnant woman?)  My consulting practice took me into many market sectors: financial services (not my favorite), healthcare (too clinical), retail (interesting), education (my favorite) and finally land development.  The skills I developed as a business owner/consultant serve me well in the real estate industry; sales and marketing, technology, customer service, streamlining of business processes and a committment to providing quality services.

I started with land; raw residential, developed lots, new home sales, and mixed use communities and developed relationships with builders and developers.  The market went down, got worse, and many developers turned more to the commercial side.  I, of course, moved along with them.

My lack of a formal business plan has carried me through many markets and opportunities.  I will continue on this path of somehow finding success because I am able to adapt to changing times; as all of us in real estate must do.

I’d love to hear your comments on how you got to your current destination in life.

HomeAid Atlanta

HomeAid Atlanta

The housing market is going through tough times and many of us find ourselves with extra time on our hands, have excess building supplies and the skills to help others.  A perfect combination for supporting a worthy cause. HomeAid Atlanta serves as a “bridge”, connecting builders from the HBA to local Service Providers, allowing Service Providers to receive assistance from home building professionals in constructing/renovating a transitional housing facility.  HomeAid leverages in-kind donations of building materials and labor from professional builders and their trade partners to multiply the impact of every cash donation received.

I recently signed on as a volunteer and encourage others to do so as well.  Learn more about HomeAid Atlanta.
